There are many different dark patterns described in the article, but I think the essence is that the designers want the users to accomplish the company's purpose, and they use opaque ways to coerce the users to achieve the purpose. This unethical behavior actually affects the user's experience and forces users to give up.

What was your favorite part of this article? (3-4 sentences)

I think the most interesting thing I learned was that I saw a lot of different cases, some of which I had experienced, some of which I had not been exposed to. It also made me learn a lot.
